Since 2021, Topsil GlobalWafers A/S has been committed to becoming a 100% sustainable company by 2050 through the global RE100 initiative. This includes ensuring renewable energy supply for its industrial production. The solar park at the headquarters in Frederikssund is therefore part of a long-term strategy for the entire company.
The solar park has been developed with several environmental considerations in mind. In addition to the financial perspective and calculated case for return and payback time, the design also reflects input from the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. It includes recreational access for employees, natural landscaping, and a green buffer zone to shield nearby neighbors.
As part of the solar park, the solution also integrates environmental care. The surrounding areas have been planted with a carefully selected mix of native species to support biodiversity in the local ecosystem.
This planting creates a natural shield around the solar park while also forming a fruit-bearing oasis where insects, birds, and small wildlife can thrive.
A walking path winds through the green area, surrounded by oak, plum, and apple trees, offering employees fresh air and seasonal fruit. Natural hedges of berry bushes, flowering shrubs, and wild herbs further enrich the landscape, creating a recreational area where Topsil’s employees can enjoy a break in scenic surroundings.
With an installed capacity of 10.2 MWp and an annual simulated production of nearly 10 MWh, the solar park makes a substantial contribution to the green transition. By reducing CO2 emissions by 809.7 tons annually, the project demonstrates how renewable energy solutions can generate significant environmental benefits.
This investment not only delivers financial returns but also supports the company’s goal of reducing reliance on fossil fuels while strengthening competitiveness in a sustainable future.
In 2024, SolarFuture delivered a 10 MW solar power plant to Topsil GlobalWafers.
The solar park, consisting of approximately 17,000 solar panels distributed across three transformer stations, is a central part of Topsil GlobalWafers’ ambitious energy optimization plan to achieve the RE100 target of 100% renewable energy for the company.
Beyond supplying renewable energy, the solar park has also been integrated with a landscaping project that enhances biodiversity and creates a natural setting for the facility. The planting makes the area more attractive, while walking paths around the park allow employees to enjoy recreation in a green and relaxing environment.
